For many years as a Sport Scientist, Performance Coach & Healer I’ve been working with clients who come to me for advice on how they can improve the performance & quality of their bodies, lives &/or businesses;

But, after working with thousands of clients I’ve found that it’s never their physical bodies, lives or businesses that require the improving.

In every client I’ve ever worked with I’ve found that there’s always been some underlying issue (that they were not consciously aware of) that was being reflected in the current state of their physical body and/or physical environment.

Effectively, the body is a barometer for life; if something isn’t going well in a certain area of life, it manifests through the body & because we’re also profoundly influenced by our thoughts, feelings & emotions, I always find that when my clients address the underlying cause of their mental or emotional dissatisfaction, their physical bodies respond with a lot less effort & they began to see amazing results in all areas of their lives.

So how is all of this going to help fast track the healing of your Shoulder pain?

Well..Did you know, on a deeper level pain is actually our resistance to feeling certain feelings that we don’t want to feel….

So the quickest way I’ve learned to heal pain, injury or illness is to FEEL - because ultimately Feeling is Healing & therefore… the quickest way to eradicate pain, injury or illness is to stop resisting & start Feeling your Feelings…

It’s extremely important to note that Feelings are actually our friends – they are trying to help us  - & by feeling them will actually start the Healing process – & to help you understand this concept better I’m now going to give you a very brief experience of the longer Healing U technique that you’ll experience in the Free Fast Healing Lesson video I’m giving you access to at the end of this episode.

From a healing perspective shoulders are major weight bearing muscles for our bodies & metaphysically are often related to carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, or feeling burdened or weighed down by something in some are of your life be that mentally, emotionally, financially, family, relationship, business or career wise etc.

The metaphor associated with the shoulders is that of Atlas holding the world on his back & shoulders….Tension and stiffness in the shoulders is a common complaint & often these will be from people who feel not only responsible but also guilty for another person’s situation. They often believe that only they can solve the problem or even that they are indispensable to a person or situation’s well being.

In most cases, this is essentially untrue, although sometimes we might like it to be true.

Are you feeling burdened by some past, present or future event?

Have a think about when you first noticed your shoulder pain – what was going on for you at the time that was negative or stressful or that could be causing you to feel burdened or weighed down?

There’s also a common belief in healing circles that the left side of the body is related to your internal world (or things that happen inside of you), for example things important to you such as your inner values, your heart or love related matters, your feminine energy or mother related aspect of yourself or things related to your mother

And the right side of the body is related to your outer world (or things that happen outside of you) for example things such as your external values, your business or masculine energy or the father related aspect of yourself or things related to your father

As you know are probably aware by now I’m a massive advocate for feeling – you will often hear me say that feeling is healing but feeling is also attracting.

Feeling is a word that has been invented to describe the vibration that we are resonating with in our body at any given moment.

If you tune into your body right now & describe to yourself how you are feeling, what you are really describing is the vibration of energy that you are currently resonating with.

Einstein said that "Vibration is just Energy" – so to get anything you want in your life just match yourself to the vibration of what you want energetically.

How do we do this?

But for the sake of this episode...

Step One is to be very clear on what you want.

Step Two is to close your eyes & imagine in your mind you already have what you want?

Can you see it?

What does it look like?

What does it feel like?

Ok I want you to imagine with absolute certainty you have it now…again what does that feel like?

It could be peaceful, calm, relaxing, happy, satisfied, secure, successful, fun, exciting or even inspiring.

Step Three is whatever the feeling is just feel it and feel it even more and feel it even more…because by feeling it you will start to resonate with the energetic vibration of the thing you want and the feeling it gives you & the more often you feel it the faster the thing you want will show up – it’s that simple

So how do we feel more of these feelings?

Well a great way that I mentioned before is we could just imagine what we want in our mind & tune into the feelings as often as we can in our body but a way to add rocket fuel to this would be to list all of the things that we like doing  & then do them as often as we can.

Ok let’s make up an example:

 Let’s say I want to lost 10 kilos of body fat and feel great about myself again.

And I have identified that losing this body fat would make me feel younger, more energetic and more excited for life.

I would then list all of the activities that I know in the past that have allowed me to feel these feelings

For example it could be surfing, singing, running, being in the sunshine, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, walking the dog, going to the gym, eating healthy food or whatever it is that will allow you to feel these feelings – & make sure that all of the activities are specific to you & what you want – not what others want of you.

And once you are clear on what these activities are then do them as often you can (for as long as they continue to give you the feelings you want.

And remember everything is all about balance so if you feel that you’re now doing too much of the activities & they no longer give you the feelings you originally wanted then just play around with the duration, regularity, intensity and/or type of activity so that you either do them a little less or you include new or other activities that will make you feel the feelings you wanted to feel.

Now as strange as this may seem – even if the activities have nothing to do with what you identified in step one as what you want – merely by the act of doing them and feeling the feelings they give you – you cannot help but attract what you want to you.

As Einstein has said: "Everything is Energy & that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of that energy (or vibration) to the reality that you want & you cannot help but attract that reality into your life. This is not philosophy but physics!"

Ok so in summary I want you to:

  • Get very clear of exactly what you want – and remember you can apply this process to any or all aspects of your life or business
  • Identify the feeling or feeling that having what you want will give you as if it already exists right now
  • See it in your mind & feel it in your body with absolute certainty as often as you can
  • And then add rocket fuel to this process by listing all of the things that make you feel the feelings you want & do them as often as you can

I know it sounds too simple & a bit crazy & I can hear some of you saying “yeah right you mean if I go & have a great time feeling these amazing feelings then my dream house, car, boat, relationship, business etc is just going to show up?”

Yes I am - & I’ve proved it with my clients & myself & it works because the more you feel the feelings of what you really want internally the faster they will show up externally – purely because you’re in alignment with the vibration (or energy) that you’re wanting to attract – it’s how the universe works at a quantum level.

Ok so how do we perform at our best even when we don’t feel like it?

A great question & certainly one we all battle with from time to time

But I want to teach you a method all of my clients use & one that’s certainly not taught by most productivity experts.

If you want to perform at your best but you’re feeling tired, or you have no energy or you’re stressed, or you have no clarity, or you’re bored or you’re just not feeling it right now most productivity experts would tell you to have a coffee, or listen to music or go to a destination that you feel more inspired or just suck it up & get on with it.

All interesting suggestions but they don’t address the fact that you just don’t feel like it & often by actioning those suggestions will suppress the reason you don’t feel like it (which will only come out later & usually in a way that is detrimental to your health & wellbeing) plus the suggestions don’t take into account that the energy you are resonating with at the time of doing something that you don’t want to do will only ever produce results that are in alignment with that vibration – so if you are feeling tired, or bored, or stressed, or uninspired or demotivated, or whatever.. you’ll only ever create productivity that is in alignment with these feelings.

As you may or may not know one of the under pinning philosophies of Healing U is that Feeling is Healing – & that our feelings just want to be felt  – Essentially our feelings are talking to us at any given moment to tell us – exactly how we feel.

So the best thing we can do (whenever we’re feeling anything) is to first feel the feeling & then listen to what it’s saying to us - & in this case it’s saying I don’t feel like doing what you are asking me to do right now.

Now…It doesn’t mean I won’t feel like it forever but right now if you want to get the best performance out of me then it’s not the right time because I just don’t feel like it.

A classic example of this was when I actually wrote the script for this video – I’d just been to the gym & was feeling tired & didn’t have clarity on what I wanted to write – so I asked myself – How do I feel right now & my inner voice said “Tired”, so I said well what do you feel like doing? & it said I want to lie down & meditate so that I can get full clarity on what I want to write & then I’ll be good to go.

So I did & this video is the result of that meditation & it took me literally 15 minutes to write!

So if we want to get the best performance out of ourselves at all times – even when we don’t feel like doing something here what to do:

First… we need to be aware of how we’re feeling & if the feeling is great then go for it, but if it’s not then…stop… & try these basic steps instead

Take 5 deep breaths & ask yourself the following questions

How do I feel right now & if it’s not in alignment with the task you need to perform...then…ask yourself…What would I rather do right now & then listen to & TRUST your inner voice .

Your inner voice knows everything that’s right & wrong for you in any given moment & it’ll tell you what you should really be doing right now…so if it says sleep, or rest, or go outside, or eat, or meditate, or call someone, or wait until tomorrow or whatever…then LISTEN to it,TRUST it & ACT on it & I promise you, you’ll not be disappointed

…& when you do come back to the task you’ll be totally in alignment with it… because you honoured your real self in the process… & that can only lead to great results because you’ll be feeling feelings that are in a better vibrational state than if you weren’t.

Do you sometimes want your goals so badly you end up pushing them away?

No matter how hard you try nothing seems to work or give you what you want?

Yeah Me Too!

So in this HealingU episode I’m going to share what I’ve learned about Letting Go, Surrendering & ultimately achieving our goals with a lot less effort.

I remember playing a beach volleyball tournament in Thailand a few years back & we were having breakfast in the restaurant – which was a big conservatory shaped area – with glass everywhere.

Anyway there was this humming bird & it was trying to get out of the conservatory & was furiously trying to fly it’s way out of a closed window & no matter how hard it tried it just couldn’t fly through the closed glass.

The crazy thing was about 30 centimetres below the glass window was an open door – but the humming bird was so fixated on breaking through the glass window to get to it’s destination that it didn’t even realise that freedom (in the form of an open door) was just below him - & this is how we can get sometimes when we’re so fixated or determined to achieve a goal.

It’s funny, we took about 30 minutes to have our breakfast, then went back to our room for another 30 minutes or so & then to get to the volleyball courts we had to pass back through the restaurant again - so in the space of an hour or so when we came back through the restaurant the humming bird was still trying to get out of the window.

Isn’t this crazy – he was so determined to get to his destination that if he’d only stopped for a second, taken a step (or in his case a flight back) he would’ve seen the open door & saved himself an hour of wasted effort trying to get to freedom…. Geez he must have been knackered.

Einstein once said "You can’t solve a problem from the same space that created it" & in the hummingbirds case all he needed to do was either look down, or fly back & he would have seen an easy solution to his problem.

We’re all like the humming bird at times when it comes to achieving our goals – we get so fixated, so determined & sometimes so desperate for an outcome that we forget to stop, breathe & look at things from another perspective.

Trying to achieve a goal but not letting nature take it’s course in the manifestation of the goal is like planting a seed, watering it daily & then pulling the seed up each day to see if the seed is growing – but that’s crazy because nature doesn’t work like that & neither does goal achievement.

In fact if like the humming bird or the plant if we try too hard for something without stepping back & having a rest on a regular basis the only goal we’ll achieve is exhaustion or burnout.

So how can you achieve your goals with a lot more ease & a lot less effort?

Easy – we’re going to apply the old Intention, Attention, No Tension model.

What’s that you ask?

Well… first of all you set an Intention – eg what do you want

I must say it’s important to be as clear as we can with what we want because our subconscious minds are like heat seeking missiles – that is – they’ll always hit what we’re aiming at – so make sure you are definite with the infinite – because you’ll always get what you are focused on!

Secondly – you put all of your attention on this Intention, by creating a goal achievement plan & actioning it on a regular (but not too regular basis)

What do I mean by not too regular ?

Well you remember the plant?

We need to give our goal as much love & attention it needs without making it feel stifled, controlled or over bearing – or put simply – we need to be balanced about how much time, money & or effort we put into our goal without being desperate, fixated or too attached.

How do we know if we’re balanced?

We will feel it (in a good way) & as a result our goal will always feel like it’s progressing, growing or moving forward & if we’re not balanced, we’ll feel frustrated, exhausted & that there’s no progress, growth or forward movement.

Which brings us to the last step which once you have Intended, & Attended to your goal it’s time to Surrender, Let Go & Trust in the natural process of the goal manifesting.

That is….We have No Tension

This is such an important part of the goal achievement process – because if we’re fraught with tension then just like the hummingbird we may be pushing away or resisting other possibilities for the goal to be achieved.

So the best way to achieve No Tension is to ensure that you’re allocating enough time each day to having fun, letting go & surrendering – now this’ll be different for everyone but essentially it means put your Attention on something else for a period of each day so that your goal can manifest in it’s natural time – so if that means playing a sport, or reading a book, or socialising with friends or whatever else it takes for you to take your attention off your goal – then do it!

Just like going to the gym – growth actually occurs in the rest periods in between workouts – but we need the focused effort of the gym session to damage the muscles which then stimulates the body to repair them & grow bigger & stronger in the rest periods between gym sessions.

In fact former world champion body builder Dorian Yates used to absolutely smash himself at the gym only once per week & then had 7 days off – but his effort was so intense & so specific that his body needed the rest in order to recover – but the results spoke for themselves & the exact same process applies to you & your goal achievement

So again…We need an intention for what we want, we need to put our attention on it for a specific period of time & then we need to rest for a specific period of time - & again - how much Attention & No tension we need will be different for everyone – but use your feelings as a guage & remember this cool phrase I just made up:…

“If you feel stressed then you need more rest & if you feel fine then everything’s happening by design & coming into line”

As Einstein also said:...“Everything is energy & if you match the frequency of that energy to the reality that you want then you cannot help but attract that reality into your life.”

This is not philosophy but physics!

But, if you want some philosophy - the Zen saying ‘Nothing is rushed but all is accomplished” might help in this instance…

In every client I’ve ever worked with I’ve found that there’s always been some underlying issue (that they were not consciously aware of) that was being reflected in the current state of their physical body and/or physical environment.

Effectively, the body is a barometer for life; if something isn’t going well in a certain area of life, it manifests through the body & because we’re also profoundly influenced by our thoughts, feelings & emotions, to the extent that when our mental, emotional & spiritual elements are working in harmony, the physical aspect of our selves will perform more efficiently & effectively & provide us with greater results than if we concentrate on our physical aspect alone.

I always find that when a client addresses the underlying cause of their dissatisfaction, their physical bodies responded with a lot less effort & they began to see amazing results in all areas of their lives.

So how is all of this going to help fast track the healing of your physical aches, pains, injuries &/or Illness?

Well..Did you know, on a deeper level pain is actually our resistance to feeling certain feelings that we don’t want to feel….So the quickest way I’ve learned to heal pain, injury or illness is to FEEL - because ultimately Feeling is Healing & therefore… the quickest way to eradicate pain, injury or illness is to stop resisting & start Feeling your Feelings…

It’s extremely important to note that Feelings are actually our friends – they are trying to help us - but it’s equally important to note that up until now feeling feelings is actually the last thing we usually want to do when we’re feeling them…..This may be a paradigm shift for some of you but bear with me.

Have a think about the last time you cut your foot, or sprained your ankle or bit your tongue – did you purposefully try to feel the feelings that cutting your foot, spraining your ankle or biting your tongue gave you? Of course you didn’t – they’re not pleasant feelings, in fact I bet you actually tried to get rid of the feelings by taking a pain killer or doing everything you could to distract yourself from feeling the pain.

But here in lies the problem. Most western medicine deals with any form of pain, injury, ailment or disease – by treating the symptom not the cause by giving you drugs to mask the pain, or even worse they’ll remove your limbs etc all together – that’s an extreme example I know but trying not to feel feelings is usually how humans treat any physical problems they don’t’ want to feel – instead we self-medicate by drinking, smoking, working, gambling, having sex, overeating etc… & if we don’t do this we simply try to avoid or deny the problem all together & do you know why we do this?

Because for most of us the feelings are too painful to want to feel them….Or we don’t know what we don’t know – eg we’re not even consciously aware of what we’re doing when pain arises – eg we’re not present when we’re in pain & just act on instinct (or survival mode) which is usually to avoid the pain.

Secondly – We’re not only not conscious of what we’re doing but because we’re are also not wanting to feel the feelings, we continue these addictive (or suppressive) behaviours such as drinking, smoking etc in an effort NOT TO FEEL THE FEELING

The problem is - if we don’t actually stop & feel the feeling, eventually the negative behaviour we are (consciously or unconsciously) acting out to not feel the feeling will get worse & often cause far worse symptoms such as cancer if it’s not addressed in the long term.

The secret though is that Feelings just want to be felt – & Feeling them will actually start the Healing process – so until we stop & actually feel the feeling, we’ll never heal properly let alone understand what ‘s causing us to feel the way we do & create the symptoms we have.

The good news though (whether we want to feel them or not) is that feelings are just trying to help us – & typically they have a message for us that’ll help us eliminate the symptoms of those feelings.

Now all this is very theory oriented & for a lot of you I understand if your mind wants to run away from what I’m saying as quick as you can – “who is this mad man telling me if I just feel my feelings they’ll guide me to remove all of the negative symptoms I have in my life & also attract all of the great things I want in my life” – is he crazy?

Don’t worry guys I totally understand & I use to think exactly the same - as a male growing up in in a physically oriented society I was certainly never taught how to feel my feelings from those around me. It was just not something my parents, teachers & role models even knew let alone considered.

Ok, so did you know that on a deeper level pain is actually our resistance to feeling certain feelings that we don’t want to feel? Let me explain…

For many years as a sport scientist, performance coach & healer, I’ve been working with clients who come to me for advice on how they can improve the performance & quality of their bodies, lives & businesses;

But, after working with thousands of clients I’ve found that it’s never their physical bodies or lives that require improving in the first instance.

In every client I’ve ever worked with I’ve found that there’s always been some underlying issue (that they were not consciously aware of) that was being reflected in the current state of their physical body &/or physical environment.

Effectively, the body is a barometer for life; if something isn’t going well in a certain area of life, it manifests through the physical body as some form of pain, injury, illness or in our physical environment as a negative or traumatic event.

I always find that when a client addresses the underlying cause of the dissatisfaction that’s causing the pain, injury, illness or trauma, their physical bodies responded with a lot less effort & they began to see amazing results in all areas of their lives.

What I found through observing my clients was that we all create our physical symptoms or our life circumstances by the way we choose to think, feel & believe about any situation & then by default our body performs behaviours (that we are usually unconsciously aware of) to create the effect of these thoughts, feelings & beliefs in our physical body & physical environment.

What do I mean by this?....Exactly that - Our external reality (that is our physical body & your physical environment) is a reflection of our internal reality (eg our thoughts, feelings & beliefs) & the reason we’re experiencing the physical symptoms that we’re experiencing is because at some level our thoughts, feelings & beliefs are out of alignment with the physical reality that we want but are fully in alignment with the physical reality that we are currently experiencing.

The science behind this philosophy, Quantum Physics, has found  that everything, including us humans are all made up of energy & the frequency (or wave length) that our energy vibrates at, will only ever attract to us energy that’s in alignment with this vibration in our physical body & physical environment.

The powerful thing about this is that we are in control of this process & even though we‘ve created our current symptoms we can also create symptoms that we’d rather be experiencing simply by thinking, feeling & believing thoughts, feelings & beliefs that form behaviours that are in alignment with the reality that we’d rather be experiencing.

I know what I’m saying may come as a shock & it’s certainly not something we’re taught at school or from our parents & yes I can even hear some of you saying “yeah right as if I created my knee injury or my arthritis or my frozen shoulder or my bad relationship or painful clients etc” but I can assure you - when you experience the actual Healing U Technique I’m going to guide you through in the free Fast Healing Lesson Video below, your perception may change very quickly.

Ive had clients who’ve come to me with chronic sore feet but identified the real cause of the issue was related to not spending enough time with their children or clients who were overweight & it wasn’t about their thyroid, sluggish metabolism or overeating but about being heartbroken by a lover years earlier, or lung cancer patients who were grieving the loss of a loved one that manifested in their lungs as cancer, or clients with depression who were abused at an earlier age.

Almost all of my clients started off sceptical at first but after performing a Fast Healing Session with me, very quickly realized that what they thought was causing their symptoms was in fact nothing to do with them & when they addressed their underlying thoughts, feelings & beliefs - their body’s, lives & pain improved by default.

Ok so how do we know we are feeling pain, or experiencing unwanted symptoms, injury or illness?...Exactly - Through our bodies. …..Our body is the connector between our internal & our external worlds – & it tells us if something is either right or wrong through our feelings & emotions, which it then manifests as physical symptoms

Just like a luxury car shows a warning light on the dashboard when a tyre is flat, or the fuel or oil is low – so too does the body – but the body presents it’s symptoms via pain, or an injury, ailment or illness… & as I mentioned earlier - on a deeper level pain is actually our resistance to feeling certain feelings that we don’t want to feel.

In this Healing U Episode (see video below) I want to share the remarkable case study of a client who over a decade ago had an illness & how the fear of getting that illness again had not only contributed to a recent relationship break up but had also drastically affected her Self Worth & Self Esteem, so much so that having the illness had now affected her identity & she was afraid of attracting her ideal relationship - in case the illness flared up again.

The good news (as always) is that her fears & feelings of low self worth & self esteem were only trying to help her & by guiding her to tune into her body & feel the feelings associated with the fear (in this case the feelings of darkness & low self worth & fear), she was able to release the fear very quickly, easily & permanently.

It may come as a surprise but there are many people in the world who actually resist, or have a fear of success.

Seems crazy doesn’t it?

With all of the accolades, rewards, personal fulfillment & attainment of worthy goals that come with success, who wouldn’t want to be successful?

In this episode of Healing U’s, ResonateU Series, success was the last thing on the mind (or should I say subconscious mind) of a recent client.

My client, like everyone else thought she wanted to be successful & for years had done everything she could in everything she had ever tried to be successful but for some reason every time she got close to winning in some form, or having a massive success breakthrough success would continue to allude her at the final step, making her feel frustrated, angry & on a deeper level very sad.

The good news is there must always be an underlying cause & I always guide the client back to the first time that they can remember that they were successful.

It’s usually at this time (which is typically when they were a child between the ages of 0-7) that some form of shock, trauma, negative event or a serious emotional charge occurred in relation to the event in some way.

As a child it’s obviously not a good thing for them to experience but as a practitioner it gives me clues as to what is causing the present day behaviours, outcomes & results.

In this client’s case – every time she would win a running race at school her mother would always make her feel bad (or not good enough) for being successful (because of the mother’s own insecurities) & therefore the client began to feel the feelings of guilt & not good enough for being successful – which are obviously not great feelings (or vibrations) to be feeling as a young child - or even as an adult for that matter.

And because she didn’t want to feel these feelings she would start to unconsciously sabotage her success.

Another interesting part of her process, was that every time she had a successful running race she would get sick later that night.

When I probed her further it became evident that by getting sick straight after a race the local doctor would come around & see her & make her feel special by looking after her & discussing her race & praising & encouraging her for her success. Ultimately the doctor made her feel acknowledged & approved of for her success (unlike her mother) & her young brain began to form a belief that “Getting Sick will help me feel the feelings of being successful”

So on one hand the client was sabotaging her success because she didn’t want to experience the negative feelings of guilt & not good enough from her mum but on the other hand managed to garner the attention & positive feelings of approval, acceptance, acknowledgment & reward from the doctor.

The problem was she needed to get sick to get these feelings which is obviously not a healthy way to be successful & which as she got older & more consciously aware decided she didn’t want to be successful if it made her sick – which….. as you ‘ll hear in the episode, brings it’s own challenges & frustrations.
